Nope, I can't pronounce it either. But it sure is disrupting transatlantic flights and other flights around Eurpoe this week. Mrs. Dave is due to fly back this Friday, so I hope she doesn't get grounded.
Volcanoes are not as easy to predict as thunderstorms, of course, and so there is no way airlines can predict when zillions of little ash particles will be belched up into the atmosphere. But especially this time of year, I'll bet a lot of transatlantic flight is elective ... vacations ... and people will begin to hold off for months, a year, who knows how long? It's tough to schedule your vacation in July around the schedule of a fickle volcano, but worse to get stuck on the other side of the ocean waiting for the dust to settle. The airlines stand to lose a lot.

If you are writing more than a paragraph a word processing ap with copy/paste is your friend. For certain. For the past few years I've been using a small program called Jarte. Rather than deal with uSoft Office ... like trying to parallel park the QE II ... or Open Office (QE III) ... I find Jarte to be just what I need to have up in the corner of my screen for quick notes, working posts, writing ideas, other ideas, etc. It's a free program and actually utilizes WordPad, draping a different GUI and added function over it. You can even use it for tables. Download from: www.jarte.com/Here's what my screen looks like at the moment.

Westmo, I just went into that thread using a test ID without any privileges ... dave with a small d. It seems to be working OK, now. I know there was a problem with this Proboards server this morning and it was screwing up. dave
