When I think of the Mohawk Valley, the towns of Ilion, Frankfort, Mohawk and points east come to mind. But Clinton must be in the Valley. Or close enough for this thread.
Here's a page I copied from fultonhistory because the graphic (cartoon) intrigued me. I wonder if the scene is actually from downtown Clinton. Maybe not, because there is a label saying "WNU Service" at bottom left. Can anyone tell me if the buildings in the background might be the real Clinton in 1943?
You should be able to enlarge the other portions of the page and read them. If anyone wants the full page in high resolution pdf, send me a note.

From the same edition of the Clinton Courier, June 24, 1943.
It was war time and savings in gas were deemed necessary. And there will always be someone with an agenda to use the current crisis to their liking. They make a good point, however. Of course another way of saving money would be to not arrest anyone for drinking and driving. But then the only people left to pay are those families decimated by the auto accidents.

The buildings in the graphic certainly look like Clinton's Park Row Dave. Park Row has changed very little in my lifetime, with the exception of the old hotel that was on the corner of Fountain St. on the South end of the park that was lost to a fire in the 50's or 60's. Some of the Churches on the East side of the park have been re-purposed and are no longer churches per say. Clinton's business district has remained remarkably aesthetically the same in my lifetime. Businesses have changed hands and have come and gone, but for the most part, Park Row looks the same today as it did in the 50's when I used to walk downtown while staying with my maternal grandparents.
