Fiona, yes, I think that's the store I remember as Wicks and Greenman up from the Busy Corner, I think on the corner of Deveraux and Genesee. I remember buying two beautiful sweaters in there in the early sixties. Very nice clothing store. Here's an ad from '41.

Yes. Of course, it's gone now, torn down during so called "Urban renewal" to be replaced by the perenially ugly and socially useless State office Building. What a pure and abyssmal waste. Some days I could cry.

Too bad. There were numerous beautiful buildings that with some care would have lasted forever. But they were not efficient in a modern sense of that word. Still, as long as the elevators worked, I'd rather work in an old building than the new modern monstrosities.
