In my time on writer forums and speaking with people in writers' groups I've come away with the impression there are two major reasons why someone would want to write an e-book. Either they think it's cheaper and easier to do ... to produce, distribute and sell ... or they deal in a style of fiction that sells lots of e-books, such as fantasy and light sci-fi. The latter is a good reason to write an ebook, if that's the kind of material you write. Otherwise it's quite easy and quite cheap to produce a hardcopy REAL book (Print On Demand) and simultaneously release it as an e-book with a click of the button. I've used two services, Lulu and Createspace, the latter a division of Amazon. You write your book in MS Word, .... Wait a minute, I've already written that description in an article I posted on line some months ago for AAPA members. Here it is: www.windsweptpress.com/pod.htmI don't mention it in the article, but the ebook option is simply a box one checks just prior to pricing your book.
