... you should be especially careful of blind dates.
The ad below signals a fashion trend that could get downright ... well, bloody hell, I can't think of a phrase.Carry a stake!

Now that would be a fashion accessory, a decorative wooden stake in a belt holster.

How about a bag of garlic around your neck?

OK we can add that to the fashion catalog: a clove of garlic in a gold cage on a chain, suspended from the basket is a gold cross.

So I checked VampFangs.com's online catalog, just in case they had already thought of your idea about garlic, gold cage, etc. No Clove in a Cage, but what a weird outfit. Their offerings include vampire themed footwear, body scents (don't ask me), home decor (!) and dental-fit fangs. What the heck is this sick fascination with blood and death, I wonder? True, I can remember seeing Grandma flatten her hand to her chest in shock (feigned, probably) when as kids we got into some (then) weird stuff. And 19th Century church music got a little wacky with lots of blood-thirsty hymns (Power In The Blood!) as well as leaving the men behind with feminizing lyrics like "laying my head on the breast of Sweet Jesus." (What guy would want to stand up and sing THAT!?) But this vampire stuff seems really bizarre to me. I know, I know ... only so far removed from us walking around in skeleton suits on Halloween in the '50s. But I think that's small change compared to families ... Mom, Dad, Billy, Sis, Grandma and Rover, too ... building fake cemeteries in their front yards in October with styrofoam headstones. Or your daughter not falling asleep the night before her birthday because she's super-excited that you're giving her a fake test tube of blood to wear around her neck as jewelry.

Test tube of fake blood? I was thinking of a Krystal (actually clear epoxy) pendant with a drop of real blood. For a premium charge, made with a drop of blood supplied by the customer.

... and launched into space when the customer dies? Or eventually buried with 2,274,399 other pendants in a cemetery in Transylvania! Cool!
