I don't know. I never went down that way. I prefrerred "Charlie Parkers" on Pearl Street, where you could drink if you had the money. All you did was put your money on the bar. The bar tender had this amazing memory. No ID, no nothing. Put up your money. That was all. Of course, Reney Turk had her place upstairs... (Irene Burke)... so, it's no secret why... a lot of tall 12 year old used to drink there...

Not with a pencill and paper, but something he did with glasses or shot glasses behind the bar where you couldn't' see it? Gee, all my old bar lore is gone!

yes, he would turn the glasses over, the shot glasses and that was your tab. All these guys knew what you were drinking. All I had to do was ask for "my freind."
