I had forgotten about this until I listened to it while driving across Ohio yesterday.

Not much of REM's music sounds familiar to me. Up through 1987, I was pounding on the stairway wall to signal my kids to turn down the volume on this stuff! Check out the footwork in this! I don't get it.

At that point my son was driving and controlling the radio. When he was younger I didn't care for his music at all, mostly rap. We seem to have developed tastes closer to each other. REM was between his era & mine. He was born in 1982.

I caught the end of Kelly's Heros tonight. I always loved that movie.
Probably the best song ever produced by a future Lt. Gov. of California.

Hey, Squeeze Box! And although I know the Clapton song, I don't think I ever realized it was called Promises. Tom Petty has always to me looked like a strange one! Great song, though. And the Long Hard Times .... country rap? Lots of guns, guitars, willing women ... I like it but I didn't get it. Hahahaha!

I heard a bad rendition of Squeeze Box by a semi-professional group last night and had to find the real one. I had forgotten "Promises" title but had the song stuck in my head for a few days and searched for it.
The Long Hard Times video is made up of clips from a show on FX called Justified. It's the theme song for the show. I didn't find a video that was made just for the song, perhaps I'll look some more. Country rap was the genre I had it pegged in as well. Imagine it being played in the bar from Blues Brothers.
