When Your Thing Is All Messed Up
Just before my 50th high school reunion this past August, I did a little research in case I was asked to dance by any of those hot girls I knew in high school. Or my wife, of course.
These videos were somewhat helpful.

James Taylor Quartet
My memory is going. I've never done these guys, right? Oh well, let's do them again.
I had never heard of them until they began to pop up on Youtube searches when I was looking for music from James Taylor, that American singing troubadour.
Here's the wiki: "The James Taylor Quartet are a British four-piece jazz funk band who have become renowned for their live performances. They were formed by Hammond organ player James Taylor following the break-up of his former band The Prisoners in the wake of Stiff Records' bankruptcy. The current line-up is James Taylor (Hammond organ), Chris Montague (guitar), Andrew McKinney (bass) and Adam Betts (drums), although recordings and live performances usually feature a horn section comprising John Willmott (tenor sax/flute) and Nick Smart (trumpet), and also vocalist Yvonne Yanney.
The band are often referred to by the acronym JTQ, and have no connection to the American singer-songwriter James Taylor."
Here's a great video to start.

The CorrsI discoverd the Corrs this evening when Keith wrote to say the video I posted in Monk In The Cellar no. 137 had been axed by Youtube. So I went looking for another "angel" song. Happily, I discovered the Corrs. Wiki: "The Corrs (who once considered going by the name Cosmic Egg)[1] are an Irish band which combine pop rock with traditional Celtic folk music. The brother and sisters are from Dundalk, Ireland. The group consists of the Corr siblings: Andrea (lead vocals, tin whistle); Sharon (violin, vocals); Caroline (drums, piano, bodhrán, vocals); and Jim (guitar, piano, vocals)." "The Corrs came to international prominence with their performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, and their support of Celine Dion on her 1996 Falling into You Tour. Since then, they have released five studio albums and numerous singles, which have reached platinum in many countries.[2] Talk on Corners, their most successful album to date, reached multi-platinum status in Australia and the UK.[3]" Until I read the above and realized the women are the guitarist's sisters, I was ready to nominate him the luckiest guy in the world to travel in a band with three beautiful women. Here is Angel: I like this. Breathless. Dreams This is beautiful. Runaway Only When I Sleep Radio. Rain.

It looks like I missed their whole career. Do you think they were wrong for the times or not what people expected from their appearance? Many of these arrangements are great (Radio). It takes a lot of guts to cover Stevie Nicks' signature song (Dreams) and talent to pull it off.

Hopefully they will be back when they finish the having babies stage. The women may not be as svelte, however.

Brucey should run backstage for a snort of O2 before that number. Still pretty good for their ages, though.

I enjoyed the music but found the video impossible to watch. As one of the comments said, like watching a badly lip synched performance.

Lovely lass. I kept waiting for her boyfriend to come down the road in a Lexus. I'm not sure if that's a artistic fault of the video or if it's because car commercials are so wonderfully done.

This is spill-over from the MoreStories Place, where there isn't room for all the Lyle Lovett songs I wanted to play.
Here's a favorite and a few more.

Vonda ShepardDid we do Vonda? Who cares? Let's do her again! You'll remember her having ended most episodes of Ally McBeal with song performed as the lawyers' favorite watering hole. Great voice and terrific covers of others' songs. Wiki: "Vonda Shepard (born July 7, 1963) is an American pop/rock singer. She appeared as a regular in the television show Ally McBeal from seasons 1-5 in which she played a resident performer at the bar where the show's characters drank after work. She plays piano, guitar, and bass. Vonda Shepard was born in New York but her family relocated to California when she was a child. She played piano from an early age. Her father is Richmond Shepard, a mime and improv actor. Vonda has three sisters: Armina, Rosetta (now Brianna) and Luana.[1] After performing as a backing singer for many years she was eventually given her own recording contract. Shepard's first chart appearance was in 1987 when she recorded a duet with Dan Hill entitled "Can't We Try". Before this she tried out for the part of Michael J. Fox's sister in Light of Day but lost the part out to Joan Jett. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vonda_Shepard[youtube]

In a Lunarticks discussion I wrote of the disappearance of love songs to cars and posted a link to the last one I can recall, the Beach Boys "Still Cruisin." I said I would post some other songs from that album here.
Four songs from the album were deemed worthy of videos by the group. The title track is on Lunarticks. The most familiar and the one which made it to #1 is
One of my favorites which always seemed overlooked:
One I've posted somewhere before but which still brings a smile:
No video:

I was thinking that it would be nice if we had a list of artists that have appeared on Brother Jesse's Morning Music. I'm too lazy and Keith is too busy. But if there's anyone out there listening in who would care to accomplish the tedious task of sorting through 14 pages and listing the performers, feel free to volunteer. Thanks.
