Heres my answer, off the top of my head, about Chancellor Park: I think the fountain was long gone before I was born, at any rate I don't remember it at all. Today, the park has been completley gutted, there is not thing that would have anyone believe it's age or history. It is a hilly green sward, unattractive, on the South side of Bleeker Street. There are some apple trees, but no floral plantings, a few non descript benches, some wooden jungle gyms and a park for the blind, where they learn street ADL's. All the lovley homes that lined the South side of the park are long gone, replaced by ugly, non descript brick buildings. I think there is also a tennis court, but I can't recall EVER seeing anyone play tennis there. In the summer they have a small farmer's market there. This park was a common area built in the style of a French Plaza to provide a respite for all the people of Utica from the work a day world. It was a link to the homes of Rutger Street via John Street, and was to be a distinct boundary, socially and ecomomically, between the business side of Bleeker Street to the North and the homes of the wealthy on the South. Time and neglect have done there work. sad to say.

Yes, sad. I can remember walking by there as a teen when we went to a nearby lunch spot. Wasn't very welcoming then, either.

OK, moved to new thread under General, "Official NorthAmerican Jon Hynes Fan Club." You're the new President. I'm the Treasurer. I'll delete this post in a few days.
